Our Mangroves Are No Longer Only On Paper. They Have Been Planted On Dirts!

On July 26, 2022, we planted 1,000 mangroves the International Day for the Conservation of the Mangrove Ecosystem in Surabaya, East Java, Indonesia. Everything is possible because of grassroot contributions: from the crowdfunding, urban volunteers who took day-off from work to bathe in a salty pond, and our media partners. We are not planting trees, but we are building forests.

Silvofishery is a thriving aquaculture within the mangrove ecosystems. 

This approach not only provides a source of income but also ensures the sustainability of both forestry and food security.

This is how we, Karbon Biru, can help to make our earth a better place.

Building with science.

There is still no one-size-fits-all correct way to plant, especially in urban settlement. We carefully measure, design, and plant correctly.

Building with people.

If the people and the youths are not brought along, we just create short-term success. We work with the people, involving them to be part of a change.

Building with nature.

To create a permanent change, environmentally sustainable is not enough. We must be socially, economically, and culturally sustainable.
